Mountain Navigation
Being able to read a map and find your way around the hills is an essential skill for all mountain users. To have the knowledge and confidence that you can navigate your way successfully along your intended route, or even get yourself off the mountain safely if the conditions turn against you, is immensely satisfying.
Good navigation skills also give you a much better connection with the landscape around you and allow you to plan your day out better, giving you the freedom to get off the beaten track and avoid the crowds.
From NNAS navigation courses to our personalised map reading weekends, whatever your level or experience, we can provide a navigation course that suits you.
Navigation weekends
Join one of our weekend navigation courses where we will cover all aspects of map and compass work. The Saturday course focuses on the basics, whereas the Sunday course progresses onto more detailed navigation and compass work.
NNAS Courses
As an approved NNAS (National Navigation Award Scheme) course provider, we offer training and assessment for the Bronze and Silver awards. The Bronze award is for those with little or no navigation experience, whereas the Silver award is for those who want to navigate away from paths and tracks.
Private instruction
If you would prefer a personalised navigation course in order to make the most of your time in the mountains or perhaps you would like to test your current abilities prior to taking formal assessment, contact us for a tailor-made programme.
